The East African IUPFOOD MSc in Sustainable Food Processing and Product Development is a 2-year
master programme.
The first year is common to all the incoming students. All the courses are compulsory and are taught at JKUAT. Students from diverse backgrounds are considered but with a focus on 2-core areas. ``In-depth education in food science'' and ``in-depth education in food engineering'' both spread over a period of two semesters.
During the second year students select one of the three majors:

- Plant-based foods at JKUAT.
- Quality and safety management for sustainable food systems at NM-AIST.
- Animal-based food at MAK.
