Admission & Language Requirements
As an applicant you should have obtained an academic Bachelor of Science degree in a discipline related to the content of the programme from a recognized University, College or Institute.
Admission criteria
The East African IUPFOOD programme aims to enroll applicants with
Bachelor qualifications related to food science and technology,
food science and nutrition, food preservation and engineering,
bioscience engineering or other closely related disciplines
from a recognized University, College or Institute.

- Candidates for the Master of Science degree in Sustainable Food Processing and Product Development must have at least a Second-Class Honors (Upper Division) bachelor of science degree or its equivalent in Food Science or a related field from a recognized university.
- Candidates who have at least a Second-Class Honors (Upper Division) bachelor of science degree or its equivalent in a related science or engineering discipline from a recognized university will also be considered for admission.
Language requirements
Applicants shall be fluent in English (reading, listening, speaking and writing).
All applicants who have not obtained a previous degree in a programme taught in English outside the three East African Countries or native English speaker (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc.) must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English.
Applicants need to have obtained a score of at least 79 on the internet based TOEFL test (sent by ETS) with scores of at least 18 on all components, or a score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS test (sent by the official IELTS center administered by The British Council or IDP Education) with scores of at least 6 on all components.
