    1978Founding president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta donated 200 hectares of land for the establishment of Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (JKCAT)
    1979President Daniel T. Arap Moi lays the foundation stone for the College(July 30th)
    1981First group of students admitted
    1984The first JKCAT graduation ceremony is held
    1985Full cyle of the College’s training is completed with the first engineering technicians graduates joining the second group of Agriculture Diplomas to receive their certificates at the second graduation ceremony graced by President Daniel Arap Moi.
    1988President Moi declares JKUCAT a Constituent College of Kenyatta University. The College’s name officially changes to Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture and Technology (JKUCAT).
    1989JKUCAT admits its first degree students.
    1994JKUCAT transformed into an autonomous University – Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) through an act of Parliament.
    1999End of Japan Technical Cooperation to JKUAT. Government of Japan hands over JKUAT to the Government of Kenya.
