Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Community is ready for the historic visit to the institution by Her Excellency Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia. The high level event which will take place on Monday June 2, 2025 will see President Musar inaugurate the Slovenia-Funded Climate Adaptation Project at JKUAT.
As a leading voice in the global efforts to tackle climate change, Slovenia—through its international development cooperation—prioritizes projects that promote environmental stewardship, advance gender equality and strengthen community resilience. The emphasis remains on supporting locally led solutions that empower communities—especially women and youth—to be at the forefront of change.
The event reflects Slovenia’s growing engagement with Kenya; highlighting a shared commitment to climate action through science-based, locally anchored approaches.
The event will also feature a panel discussion themed: One Climate, One Future: Integrated Solutions for Kenya’s Environmental Resilience. The panel will bring together leaders from development, academia, and diplomacy – to explore integrated strategies for building resilience in Kenya, focusing on innovations such as satellite-based environmental monitoring, climate-resilient food systems, and inclusive policy development.
At JKUAT, President Musar will be received by Education Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, the University’s leadership and officials from partner organizations such as the World Food Programme and the University of Nairobi.
