Vice Chancellor Welcomes New Students

The orientation week for close to 2000 new students ended with the address to the students by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mabel Imbuga, Friday May 11, 2012 in which she urged the freshers to take advantage of the opportunity to actualize their academic dreams for nation building.

She told the students they were joining a university that had made an impact in research and development, citing a number of novelties that JKUAT dons and students had pioneered in the various sectors of the economy. She appealed to the new students to embrace integrity and hard-work in their academic pursuit, reminding them to shun antisocial temptations such as alcohol and substance abuse.

“During your stay here, I urge you to cherish your teachers since they have so much knowledge to impart to you. It is their job to challenge and to enhance your understanding of the universe and the subject matter of your study”, said the VC.

The vice Chancellor equally challenged the news students enrolled for various programmes to be proactive in their academic endeavor, “to allow yourselves the thrill of discovering new and innovative ideas”.
