Vice Chancellor Condoles with Prof. Magoha’s Family

Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi has condoled with the family of former Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. George Magoha, terming his demise as a huge loss to Kenya’s education and health fraternity. In a message of condolence to Prof. Magoha’s family, Prof Ngumi termed Magoha as a man of many talents, known for his unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education and healthcare in Kenya.

“Here at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, we immensely benefitted from the counsel of Prof. Magoha in various occasions. During his tenure as the Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, JKUAT embarked on the task of establishing the School of Medicine. His guidance and mentorship on matters quality, enabled our School of Medicine to emerge as one of the best in medical training and research in Kenya,” Prof Ngumi remarked.

The Vice Chancellor added that as the Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Magoha repeatedly expressed his strong appreciation of JKUAT’s role in technical training areas including in Engineering, Agriculture, Technology, Health Sciences and Applied Sciences; a fact that she reckoned, brought honour and pride to JKUAT beyond the borders of Kenya.

“Prof. Magoha was a man of great integrity, who was deeply committed to improving the lives of the people of Kenya. He was respected and admired by many, and his passing has left a huge void in the education and health sectors of Kenya. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched,” Prof. Ngumi averred.

Prof. George Magoha died on January 24 following a cardiac arrest at the Nairobi Hospital.
