UNESCO Agency Speaks Partnership during  Visit to JKUAT

A delegation from the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), led by Director Dr. Quentin Wodon, visited Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

The UNESCO IICBA, a specialized institute under UNESCO, is dedicated to enhancing education quality across Africa by strengthening the capacity of educators and education systems.

The team engaged the university management on ongoing initiatives and explored areas of mutual interest particularly in strengthening teacher training and advancing educational research in the continent.

The visit served as a platform to discuss collaborative opportunities in digital education, curriculum development, and capacity building, with a focus on meeting the evolving needs of African educators.

Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Prof. Robert Kinyua, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring that its academic programs remain responsive to regional education needs and aligned with global standards through strategic partnerships and digital integration.

Prof. Turoop Losenge, Director of the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology, and Innovation (PAUSTI), underscored the importance of the partnership in enhancing the quality of teacher education and encouraging innovation in pedagogy particularly within science and technology disciplines.

Also in attendance were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Production and Extension) RPE, Prof. Jackson Kwanza, and Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance), Prof. Daniel Sila.
