The university’s efforts to support and enhance access to quality higher education received a shot in the arm following the admission and orientation of new international students.

The School of Open, Distance and eLearning SODeL welcomed over 150 international students who have enrolled to pursue various courses offered by JKUAT.

The orientation exercise was intended to help the new students to have a clear understanding of operations and administrative processes at the school, including how to utilize the student portal, enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform and the learning management system (LMS).

Welcoming the new students, Director of SODel Prof. Rebecca Waihenya, urged the students to learn and understand the University structure as well as the statutes and regulations.

“As new students, the school expects you to carry yourself with the utmost respect in your endeavors.” JKUAT is known for producing well-rounded individuals and as SODel we are devoted to the idea of using the online platform to impart students with critical skills,” Prof. Waihenya said.

With the convenience of online learning especially in allowing one to access a wider range of programmes, Prof. Waihenya advised the student to apply for other courses they may be interested in, noting that the school’s online platform is user-friendly.

The new students, drawn from various countries such as South Africa, Uganda Rwanda among others,  had an opportunity to interact with the school administrators ahead of the commencement of their studies.
