Prof. Gerryshom Munala has retained deanship at the School of Architecture and Building Sciences (SABS), paving way for a second stint at the leadership position he has held for the past two years.
Just like in his first stab for deanship, Prof. Munala easily sailed through unopposed, with no opponent expressing interest to unseat him. He thanked the School’s faculty members for expressing their faith in him and giving him an overwhelming vote of confidence.
“Barely a month after assuming office for my first term in 2020, COVID-19 struck. We experienced a lot of challenges in the formative months of the pandemic, but I’m glad we sailed through, and now we have fully adopted blended learning. Going forward, we shall ensure that as a school, we are fully compliant with the University’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system,” he said.
He was speaking Wednesday, February 2, 2022 when he signed his acceptance letter to continue serving in the office, in a ceremony that was presided over by the Deputy Registrar-Admissions, Dr. Aggrey Wanyama.

Prof. Munala observed that graduates from the school are highly-sought after, thanks to the quality and holistic training process they undergo. He further noted that all the programs at the faculty are fully accredited, a testament to the University’s adherence to quality standards.
He however noted that the growing preference of the School’s programs by students joining higher education institutions may potentially exceed the number of staff, and indicated that he will continue working closely with management towards increasing the human resource.
His sentiments were echoed by the Chair, Department of Construction Management, Dr. Marcan Masudi, who appealed for a facelift of the School’s infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing number of students.
