Prof Gerryshom Munala is the new Dean School of Architecture and Building Sciences JKUAT after being elected unopposed during a unanimous vote on February 12, 2020.
In his acceptance speech, Prof Munala called upon the faculty to work as a team and affirmed his commitment in ensuring an open-door policy to run the school. Prof. Munala also promised to listen to all for positive contributions that will steer the school to greater heights and he encouraged staff to share innovative ideas.
The outgoing Dean Prof. Stephen Diang’a was elated to hand over the mantle to the new head. He noted that even though his vision to elevate SABS to a college was yet to be realized, he was happy with the strides made during his tenure. He urged the incoming dean to ensure that the idealized annual SABS conference that he had envisioned gets to fruition. He also encouraged staff to support the heads of departments, whenever called upon.
In her congratulatory remarks, the Registrar Academic Affairs, Dr Esther Muoria tipped the new dean on leadership in his new role. Observing that such positions require strength and courage, Dr Muoria urged Prof Munala to “work hard, do the right thing and think of what you want to be remembered for.”
