It is my great pleasure and honor to convey a warm welcome to the School of Open, Distance and eLearning (SODeL), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Today, technology enabled open and distance learning has become an integral component of mainstream systems in both the developed and developing countries. JKUAT, through SODeL, has embraced this mode of learning since 2012.

In line with the University Strategic Plan 2018-2022 on promotion of quality education, the School was created to expand opportunities for higher education through initiation of new programs using alternative modes of delivery. The School is meant to leverage technology enabled learning with a view to enhancing access to University education through Open and Distance learning including blended learning with virtual labs.

SODeL has opened up space to thousands of students who might otherwise miss out on higher education to study internationally recognized JKUAT degrees, Diplomas and Certificates at their own convenience, anywhere, anytime and at reasonable fees.
