On March 14, 2025, Bsc. Energy and Environmental Technology (EET) students at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering enjoyed listening to talks by members of the pioneer EET class from various industries. Some of the alumni who shared their insights were Mr. Samwel Wakhungu (Huawei Telecom site Power), Mr. Eliud Setek (Growatt Energy Ltd), Ms. Sharon Wamuyu (EPRA), Mr. Evans Khisa (MAN Energy Solutions), Mr. Thomas Nyanumba (E&M Tech Hub) and Mr. Daniel Mutua (Gadgetronix Ltd).

The students were given directions on the different opportunities available in the energy industry. They also got advice on how best to prepare for the job market and ways to make themselves more marketable.

There was also a question and answer session where the students got to have some of their fears about the future allayed. This talk also proved to be a great networking opportunity and the alumni promised to share attachment and internship opportunities with the students when available. The department hopes to hold more of these talks in a bid to bridge the gap between academia and industry as well as create awareness and improve numbers for the BSc. EET program.
