The inaugural festival was held on March 27th 2013 as the JKUAT Multimedia Festival (JKUAT MMF). At the time, the school was a department but since the upgrade was need to change the name. The event involved much rebranding, review of goals and positioning to ensure relevance of the event.

JKUAT Cougars secured their spot after beating Moi Arsonists 15-11 in a semi-final pairing of the Nationwide league.
