The Interactive Construction Management Student Organization (ICOMSO) successfully conducted a campus cleaning exercise at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) during Mazingira day 2025
The event was organized as part of the organization’s commitment to promoting environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and active student involvement within the university community.
The exercise brought together Construction Management students, staff, and volunteers who worked collaboratively to clean and beautify various areas of the campus, including pathways, lecture blocks, and common spaces. The activity not only promoted hygiene but also underscored the organization’s dedication to creating a sustainable and conducive learning environment.
Speaking during the event, ICOMSO Chairperson Mr peter Githinji lauded the participants for their unity and hard work, emphasizing that maintaining a clean environment aligns with the values of the construction management profession — orderliness, sustainability, and teamwork.
“As future construction managers, we understand that every great project begins with a clean and well-organized environment. This initiative reflects our commitment to responsible leadership and environmental consciousness,” said Peter Githinji.
Participants expressed enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the teamwork and sense of community fostered through the exercise. Many called for similar initiatives to be held regularly to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and campus pride among students.
ICOMSO extends its sincere appreciation to all members, volunteers, and partners who supported the activity. Through such initiatives, the organization continues to empower Construction Management students to lead with responsibility, professionalism, and purpose.
