OBJECTIVES
Towards fulfilling her Vision and Mission, the School of Pharmacy aims to:
a) Develop collaborative ventures with local and international partners towards meeting the Vision and Mission of the School
b) Provide mentorship and pastoral support to the students towards attaining their academic goals
c) Produce pharmacists:
- With extensive knowledge on drugs, their use, mechanism of action and toxicity
- Able to supply medicines in accordance with legal requirements and professional code of ethics
- Competent in interpreting prescriptions and evaluating them for cost, safety and efficacy to promote rational drug use
- Able to perform pharmaceutical calculations and undertake extemporaneous preparations of medicines as may be required in community and hospital pharmacy settings
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to peers and patients to achieve optimal patient care
- That are innovative and enterprising, with the ability to utilise locally available resources for pharmaceutical product development
- Capable of taking take part in the design, discovery, manufacture and formulation of drug dosage forms
