The School of Pharmacy held a rigorous orientation for the new students on 20/09/2021. The new students were congratulated and welcomed to the college by the Dean School of Pharmacy, Dr.Alex Kigundu Muriithi. The School received 65 students during the 2021/2022 academic year.
Dr. Muriithi in his remarks urged the students to adhere strictly to the set rules and regulations of the School and the University to ensure that they graduate on time. He introduced all the Chairpersons of departments, members of staff and the University counsellor allocated to the College of Health Sciences
The students were reminded to concentrate on their studies and that class attendance was compulsory. Failure to attend classes will lead to negative consequences. Students were encouraged to work hard and avoid examination malpractices which would lead to suspensions or expulsions from the University.
They were also addressed by the Chairperson Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy, Dr. Linus Wafula; the Chairperson Department of Pharmaceutics, Dr.Veronica Abwova; and the Chairperson Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Dr.Boniface Thuo.
The students were introduced to the college counsellor who encouraged the students to seek counselling services from the dean of students office and join the various clubs and societies available. The counsellor discouraged the vice of drug abuse and described it as a major threat among new students. They were urged to get help before it is too late and report any threats to their security.
