
The University senate and the UMB has approved the upgrading of the JKUAT board postgraduate to the graduate school with and expanded mandate of postgraduate student management. This will includes admission of all postgraduate students and monitoring and ensuring quality of studies throughout the student stay in JKUAT. The Graduate school will foresee timely completion of studies by postgraduate students in all schoool. The JKUAT Graduate School will oversees the admissions process for all graduate programs at JKUAT. The criteria used in making decisions will vary according to the colleges/schools and program the student is applying for, but all decisions on admission will include an evaluation of the applicant’s potential for graduate-level work which is described in the course entry requirement. Certified supportive documentation is required at the application stage while originals will be verified at the registration stage.
Typically, each academic department accepting graduate students will form an admissions committee commonly referred to as departmental board of postgraduate studies and review all requests, then forward the committee’s recommendations to the Deans of the school. The school board of BPS will review the departmental recommendation and forward to Graduate School for final processing and approval.
