About NeDMEV

The Network for Zero-defect and Zero-waste Digital Manufacturing (DM) for Electric Vehicles’ Components (NeDMEV) project is funded by the Intra Africa Mobility Scheme (https://eacea.ec.europa.eu/intra-africa_en)  of the Education Audio-visual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission.

The partnership is an initiative, derived from the Education for Laser-based Manufacturing (ELbM) consortium, to upskill African postgraduate research students in advanced manufacturing (AM) with expertise in mitigating climate change via practical application of digital manufacturing (DM) processes in achieving defect- and waste-free products.

Objectives

NeDMEV engages community of practice (CoP) to:

  1. develop experts skilled in big data science (BDS) and artificial intelligence (AI) for digital manufacturing (DM) to achieve zero-defect and zero-waste production of electric vehicle (EV) components;
  2. mentor young academics in conducting research, grant proposal writing and project management;
  3. embed innovation into EV manufacturing research via industry and business involvement to maximize societal impact;
  4. increase employability of scholars in green jobs by enhancing soft and technical skills;
  5. increase cooperation among NeDMEV partners through continued research focusing on climate change mitigation and creation of green jobs;
  6. enhance the relevance, internationalization, and climate change focus of NeDMEV HEIs through staff exchange.
