NeDMEV
The Network for Zero-defect and Zero-waste Digital Manufacturing (DM) for Electric Vehicles’ Components (NeDMEV) partnership is an initiative to upskill African postgraduate students in practical application of digital manufacturing (DM) processes for defect- and waste-free production, which is important in mitigating climate change.

- Removing the disconnection between manufacturing needs of the industry and academic research
- Developing skilled experts in Big Data Science (BDS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in analysing the cause-effect variation in the research
- Mentoring young academics in grant proposal writing and project management
NeDMEV consortium ensures equity and inclusion, system strengthening and capacity building as well as employability of participants while strengthening partners’ wider economic and social ecosystems as it embeds innovation into EV manufacturing research via business involvement to maximize societal impact.
These goals will be achieved through the collaborating institutions: Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST), Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT), Ghana’s Pentecost University (PENTVARS), South Africa’s Nelson Mandela University (NMU),uYilo e-mobility research and development program, H & H Industries, and the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Italy’s University of Bologna.
The NeDMEV mobility scholarship program will train 30 Masters, 12 PhD, 6 trainees and 12 staff members. The mobility must be to an institution in an eligible country other than the home country or country of the home institution of the applicant. The following types of mobility will be offered under the NeDMEV Scholarship
