Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Center Hosts Seminar on Robotics

On January 16th, 2026, Lenny Ng’ang’a, Research Assistant at the AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Project (JICA) at JKUAT, delivered an insightful talk on “Robotics Research at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology” at the Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Center, Kenyatta University.

The seminar was organized by Eagobotics, a division of Eago Group Automation, which focuses on providing STEM-related content in schools. Attendees included thirty-five teacher trainees from Kibabii Diploma Teachers’ Training College, eager to gain hands-on experience with robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and machine learning.

During the seminar, Lenny introduced innovative programs such as Robotics Dojo, which trains university students in cutting-edge robotics technologies. A highlight of the session was a demonstration by Brian Fundi, a final-year Mechatronics student. Brian showcased his team’s robot, developed as part of his participation in the Robotics Dojo Competition (2024-2025).

Lenny also shared details about the ongoing Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) research project, a low-cost and sustainable approach to remanufacturing, demonstrating practical applications of robotics in society. The audience engaged enthusiastically in a question-and-answer session, showing keen interest in both theoretical and practical aspects of robotics.

Miss Mwenje, the lead of Eagobotics, guided the audience through hands-on STEM training using electronics and robotics kits as modern teaching tools. They were guided step by step in building practical electronic circuits, exploring concepts like energy production and utilization. In the closing session, they were guided in assembling and programming a robot using the LEGO Mindstorms Kit, putting their newly acquired skills into practice.

The seminar concluded successfully, leaving participants inspired and better equipped to integrate robotics and STEM concepts into their teaching. The hands-on experience with electronics, programming, and robotics fostered practical understanding, while the interactive discussions highlighted the potential of these technologies to transform education. Both the organizers and attendees expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations and continued exploration in the field of robotics.
