Prof. Titus Kivaa has been re-elected unopposed as the Dean of School of Architecture and Building Sciences (SABS).

His re-election was announced by Mr. William Nyariki who represented the Acting Registrar, Academic Affairs, Ms. Lydia Kimundu on January 29, 2026.

In his remarks, Mr. Nyariki congratulated the Dean for being re-elected, and highlighted that the due process leading to the declaration of the results.

In his brief acceptance speech, Prof. Kivaa expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his colleagues for their solid support during his first term, and for affirming their confidence in his leadership.

Prof. Kivaa started his new two-year term with a pledge to improve standards in SABS.

“In my second term, I will advocate for better teaching facilities for the school and resources for research, and materials for post graduate students,” said Prof. Kivaa.

Faculty members from SABS congratulated him following his re-election: Architect Victor Nyakundi said, “The unopposed re-election is not due to lack of competitive spirit in the School, but it is a sign of full confidence in Prof Kivaa’s leadership.”

The ceremony for the declaration of the winner conducted in the Old Boardroom, was attended by Dr Janet Ondieki from the Department of Landscape Architecture and Dr Fredrick Okuta from the Department of Construction Management.

Prof. Kivaa is from the Department of Construction Management. He was first elected as the Dean of the School in February 2024, having succeeded Prof. Gerryshom Munala, who served as the Dean for two consecutive terms.
