Prof. Arnold Onyango, an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, is the new Dean of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences (SOFNUS).
Prof. Onyango was elected on January 19, 2023 in an election which attracted two other contenders, Prof. Julius Mathara and Prof. Willis Otieno. He will serve as SOFNUS Dean for 2 years.
Upon his election, Prof. Onyango expressed his elation and thanked the staff of the school for their confidence in his leadership abilities. He stated that their shared aspirations will help to elevate SOFNUS to great heights.
He lauded his predecessor, Prof. Daniel Sila for laying down a strong foundational framework that will guarantee success in the school.
Prof. Onyango urged his staff to rally behind him in order to meet success at SOFNUS.
“I plan to work with my colleagues to make SOFNUS even more vibrant. This will include, improving our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes by making them more attractive and impactful. We also want to empower our School to be particularly strong in knowledge creation and innovations through local and International research.,” said Prof. Onyango.
Prof. Onyango replaces Prof. Sila who is currently the Principal, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
