Prof. Gideon Kikuvi has been re-elected unopposed as the Dean of the School of Public Health (SoPH) in the College of Health Sciences, securing another two-year term following the elections, held at the old boardroom on Friday, May 8, 2026.

His re-election was certified by the Deputy Registrar, William Nyariki, who reaffirmed that due election process was followed and subsequently presented the certificate to Prof. Kikuvi on his re-election.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Kikuvi expressed his gratitude to the SoPH faculty members for the trust and confidence they have placed on him illustrated by his re-election, promising to build on the successes of the first term, among them increasing the number of post graduates in the school.

“My vision for the second term is to elevate the School of Public Health by building broad collaborations both internally and externally.” Prof. Kikuvi said.

“We will work together to incorporate mentorship in our training so that we produce graduates who transcend even our level as their trainers, ” he added.

Prof. Kikuvi encouraged junior staff to learn from his career trajectory and advancement and invited them for mentorship as his doors are always open.

SoPH staff on their part, promised to continue supporting Prof. Kikuvi’s vision and learning from his leadership style.

Dr. Muhamud Cheptoek, an Associate Lecturer in the School of Public Health in his congratulatory speech, described Prof. Kikuvi as a diligent and approachable leader, who supports his fellow colleagues and students without delay. He urged them to continue supporting one another as they work towards a common goal.

He urged staff to anticipate prepare for future opportunities by acquiring the requisite qualifications.

Present to witness the re-election ceremony were teaching staff, non-teaching staff and a student representative from SoPH. The Dean was gifted with a celebration cake to crown the milestone event, as he embarks on his final term with unanimous support from the School of Public Health.
