Over 9,000 First-Year Students Report To JKUAT – Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology

JKUAT buzzed with life as thousands of first-year students reported this week, marking the beginning of their university journey. The new students clutched admission letters and suitcases heavy with hope, each step carrying them closer to a future waiting to unfold.

Over 9,000 government-sponsored and self-sponsored students rushed to secure admission into various courses allocated by Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) at the university. The large turnout highlighted both the high demand for placement at JKUAT and the excitement surrounding the start of a new academic year.

With the huge turnout evident, the university transformed into a beehive of activity. College administrators, staff, and student leaders worked hand in hand to guide the new students through the admission process, ensuring that everyone found their way to the right offices and departments.

Present to receive them on Monday, September 1, 2025, was the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, who welcomed the new students and assured them of the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and holistic growth.

“Welcome to JKUAT. You have made the right choice. This university is committed to providing quality training to its students,” said Prof. Ngumi as she addressed the visiting parents. She also toured the university, interacting warmly with parents and students while encouraging them to embrace the opportunities ahead.
