New Students Embark on Their eLearning Journey at JKUAT

The New Students register for e-learning at SODeL.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)’s School of Open, Distance, and eLearning (SODeL) welcomed new students for the January-April 2025 intake on February 1, 2025.

The process, which included document verification, registration, and an orientation session, introduced students to the Learning Management System (LMS). This exercise is crucial to SODeL’s academic delivery, providing students with essential information about the university’s guidelines and advanced eLearning tools.

Dr. Henry Mwangi, Director of SODeL, congratulated the new students on their admission, lauded their decision to pursue their studies at JKUAT. He assured them of the institution’s commitment to delivering high-quality services, regardless of their location.

The Director also emphasized the school’s dedication to continuous improvement, ensuring students have a seamless eLearning experience. He noted that all programs are accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and delivered through the LMS platform.

Mr. Nyangoto Andrew, SODeL’s finance officer, highlighted the importance of adhering to fee payment requirements for a smooth academic experience.

“As you begin this academic journey, take time to familiarize yourselves with the fee payment processes. Financial planning is key to ensuring a successful learning experience, and we are here to assist you whenever needed,” said Mr. Nyangoto.

Petro Alela, a Bachelor of Commerce student, shared his thoughts on the advantages of online learning. He highlighted how the flexibility of eLearning platform will enable him to juggle academic responsibilities alongside a busy personal life. However, he also recognized that thriving in an online program demands a strong sense of self-discipline and dedication.
