New manager e-Learning

The Vice Chancellor, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology has appointed Dr John M. Kihoro as the University’s E-Learning Manager. He will be responsible for among other duties, the coordination promotion and development of e-learning and related technologies across the university. Dr John M. Kihoro is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Sciences and has passion in ICT. He is an expert in Learning and Content Management Systems (LCMS) such as ATutor and MOODLE and well exposed to e-content authoring tools such as eXe, Course Lab, Captivate, AcroTeX education Bundle. Between 1998 and 2001, he worked as a part-time resource person with Kenyatta University under the African Virtual University (AVU) in which he was facilitating mathematics courses by assisting students during live lecture transmissions from MIT. He has attended a number of eLearning workshops, which have increased his commitment in integration of ICTs in Education. He was the eLearning coordinator from July 2007 to June 2009 during which he spearheaded the development of the first ever-interactive CD for Bridging course in Mathematics. He is also involved in managing the JKUAT MSc content currently hosted at (a MOODLE site for delivering content to Masters in Research Methods, a RUFORUM sponsored regional programme). Dr Kihoro is also an experienced Lecturer and researcher in the field of Mathematics, statistics and ICTs.
