The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree program offered by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in the College of Engineering and Technology has earned international recognition under the Washington Accord.

This latest Washington Accord accreditation places the JKUAT program on the global stage, ensuring its graduates meet internationally benchmarked engineering education standards.

The recognition, which will be valid for a five-year term, is a significant achievement that affirms JKUAT’s curriculum meets the rigorous global standards set by the Washington Accord, an agreement among leading engineering accreditation bodies worldwide.

As a result, graduates from the program will now enjoy enhanced career mobility, as their qualifications are recognized in member countries.

The accreditation strengthens JKUAT’s reputation as a center of excellence in engineering education, as well as provides students with increased opportunities for international collaboration, postgraduate studies and employment in globally competitive industries.

Responding to the milestone achievement, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi, said it reaffirms the university commitment to produce world-class engineers equipped with the skills required to drive innovation and solve complex engineering challenges worldwide.
