The Jomo Kenyatta University Students Association (JKUSA) has set a new benchmark for student-led impact, completing a series of major infrastructure and welfare projects that enhance campus safety, study environments, and co-curricular engagement at JKUAT.
Guided by a vision of holistic student development, innovation, and inclusivity, the JKUSA leadership, under President Peace Love Issa, independently spearheaded the construction of a pedestrian walk bridge connecting the Student Centre and COHRED buildings. In strategic partnership with Samsung, the team also renovated and upgraded the Cherry Park study areas and established a dedicated fan stand at the AICAD football pitch. Additionally, the Student Centre was transformed into a vibrant entertainment and relaxation hub, fostering greater student interaction and well-being
The University Management Board, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Ngumi, lauded the initiatives, noting that they will play a crucial role in enhancing student welfare, promoting engagement, and creating a more conducive environment for learning and personal development.
During an inspection of the projects on April 8, 2026, Prof. Ngumi expressed her satisfaction with the work undertaken by the student leadership, lauding their dedication to improving the student experience.
“I commend the partnership between JKUSA and Samsung, which has enabled these projects to come to fruition and significantly enhance the student experience. Such collaborations are key to driving innovation and improving campus life,” said the Vice Chancellor.
The projects, which Prof. Ngumi noted will also serve as a model for future student-led initiatives, are expected to continue promoting engagement, inclusivity, and a more vibrant campus environment.
Speaking on the impact of the initiatives, Peace Love Issa emphasized that the leadership has always been committed to providing good governance. He highlighted that the projects reflect the team’s dedication to improving student welfare, fostering participation, and creating lasting value for the University community.
“These projects have been realized through our partnership with Samsung and the unwavering support of the University Management, led by the Vice Chancellor, demonstrating what can be achieved when student leadership and institutional stakeholders collaborate effectively,” he noted.
The President further stated that the projects will help students access improved facilities, engage in co-curricular activities, and enjoy a safer and more inclusive campus environment, ultimately enriching their overall university experience.

Academic Secretary Victor Osiolo, who was instrumental in driving the Samsung partnership, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders.
“Their support turned our vision into tangible outcomes that will benefit student wellness at JKUAT for years to come,” Osiolo said.
The outgoing JKUSA Council has been lauded for its strategic and functional leadership, raising the bar for future student governments. Elections for the new student council are scheduled for mid-April.
