JKUSA Leaders Officially Sworn In at JKUAT – Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology

The newly elected leaders of the Jomo Kenyatta University Students Association (JKUSA) officially assumed office following their swearing-in ceremony held on Friday, May 2, 2025. The event, presided over by the University’s Chief Legal Officer, Mr. Richard Wokabi, was attended by members of the university management, staff, and students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Ngumi emphasized that the occasion was not only a leadership transition but also a celebration of the university’s vibrant democratic spirit and student engagement.

“As you take up your new responsibilities, remember that leadership is not just about holding office but about serving the diverse needs of the JKUAT student body and championing meaningful change within our community. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of JKUAT, and I am confident in your ability to rise to the challenge,” said Prof. Ngumi.

Outgoing JKUSA Chairman, Mr. Fidel Newton Wandiga, expressed his gratitude to the student body for the trust placed in him during his term. He encouraged the incoming leadership to work in unity for the benefit of students, the university community, and the institution at large.

“To truly address students’ concerns collaboration and open communication through proper channels will be essential,” Mr. Wandiga noted.

“Their efforts laid the foundation for the meaningful progress and dialogue we enjoy today, and for that, they will always be honored. Together, let us face upcoming challenges with courage and determination, knowing that our unity and resilience are our greatest strengths,” Issa said.

Dean of Students, Prof. Fridah Wanzala, commended the student body for their exemplary conduct throughout the election period. She also praised the JKUSA Electoral Commission for overseeing a process that was free, fair, and transparent.
