JKUAT TVET Institute Director Appointed to Bandari Maritime Academy Board

The Director, JKUAT Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institute, Dr. Fridah Simba, has been appointed to the Board of the Bandari Maritime Academy by the Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hon. Hassan Ali Joho.

Dr. Simba’s appointment, announced through Gazette Notice No. 12020 dated 29th August 2025, will see Dr. Simba serve alongside three other members for a three-year term. The move is aimed at strengthening Kenya’s maritime education and training sector.

The Director’s inclusion on the board is viewed as a strategic step to tap into the expertise of TVET professionals in shaping the future of maritime training. With Kenya increasingly prioritizing the blue economy, her appointment is expected to support efforts to build a skilled workforce that can drive sustainable growth in the sector.

Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Simba said she is committed to applying her experience to elevate the academy’s impact.

JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, congratulated Dr. Simba on the appointment, noting that it reflects both her individual excellence and the university’s growing influence in shaping national development through skills training.
