Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is set to host students drawn from various universities in South Korea to participate in a week-long cultural and educational exchange program supported by The Life Ministry Kenya.
The initiative seeks to promote cross-cultural understanding, friendship, and academic collaboration between Kenyan and South Korean University students. The visiting students will participate in learning interactive sessions, cultural showcases and community service activities together with their Kenyan peers.
During discussions held when the Life Ministry Kenya officials paid a courtesy call on the JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi, the officials said, the exchange program will expose students to diverse perspectives but also create lasting networks that transcend borders.
Speaking during the meeting, the Vice Chancellor lauded the initiative, noting that it aligns with the university’s vision of producing globally minded graduates.
Prof. Ngumi further said, the program presented a golden opportunity for the students to learn, share, and build global connections that will enrich their academic and social lives.
“This partnership is more than an exchange of cultures; it is a bridge of friendship and learning, By hosting students from South Korea, we are offering our own students a unique chance to broaden their worldview, appreciate diversity, and cultivate values of respect, collaboration, and global citizenship. Such opportunities prepare our young people to thrive in an interconnected world,” Prof. Ngumi observed.
On his part, Mr. Roert Balusi, the National Director for The Life Ministry Kenya, which is coordinating the exchange program, emphasized the importance of nurturing global citizens through such interactions. He said by bringing together young people from different cultures, the program was fostering mutual respect, collaboration, and an appreciation for diversity.
“This program is about building bridges between young people from different parts of the world. When students interact, they not only share knowledge but also learn to appreciate diversity, respect differences, and celebrate what unites us as human beings,” asserted Mr. Balusi. He expressed confidence that the program will have a lasting impact on both the visiting students and their hosts.
JKUAT is hopeful that the program will inspire future collaboration, create long-term academic and cultural linkages between Kenya and The Life Ministry Kenya.
