COHRED Students Gain Global Perspective Through IVEY Partnership – Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology

In an era where innovation and global competitiveness define success, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has partnered with Canada’s IVEY Business School to deliver a cutting-edge, case-based training program designed to foster cross-cultural learning and strategic problem-solving.

Organized by the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SOBE) under the College of Human Resource Development (COHRED), the training, which runs from May 19-28, 2025, aims to equip students with real-world business insights. The program blends diverse perspectives to nurture adaptable, globally competitive leaders.

By merging Kenyan and Canadian expertise, the initiative not only accelerates innovation but also underscores JKUAT’s commitment to internationalization in higher education preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Ms. Lydia Mark, the program coordinator, emphasized the significance of the partnership in expanding students’ global outlook.

“This training is more than just an academic exercise it’s an opportunity to engage with international facilitators, develop critical decision-making skills, and build networks that transcend borders. The skills gained here will not only enhance employability but also shape how you approach challenges in life,” said Ms. Mark.

Mr. Ibrahim Behiri, a facilitator from IVEY Business School, highlighted the interactive nature of the sessions and encouraged students to be actively involved in discussions.

“We are here not just to encourage open-mindedness, but to explore diverse solutions to real business challenges. By using tools like SWOT analysis, PEST analysis, and the STAR method, you will develop critical and strategic thinking skills,” he explained.

The lasting impact of the program was echoed by Mr. Elifet Ouma, a JKUAT alumnus and past participant, who shared how the training shaped his professional journey.

“The connections and problem-solving skills I gained from this program have been invaluable. Being proactive in discussions and networking early can open doors you never imagined,” Mr. Ouma advised.
