Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has introduced free aerobics sessions for staff members to give them an opportunity to stay active and unwind after work.
The sessions will be led by a professional coach and will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5:30 pm at the university swimming pool.
To make participation easy, the Sports and Games Department has provided male and female changing rooms with bathrooms, enabling staff to carry their sports gear to work and comfortably change before the workouts.
JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, praised the initiative, noting that staff wellness is key to the institution’s success.
“When our staff are healthy and energized, they are better placed to deliver on the university’s mission. These aerobics sessions are an investment in our collective productivity and well-being,” said Prof. Ngumi.
The Director of Sports and Games, Dr. Peter Waweru Kamaku, revealed that the aerobics team has already extended its activities beyond campus by taking part in organized hikes aimed at promoting physical fitness and mental refreshment.
“Sports bring people together, improve our health and boost morale. Through aerobics, we are cultivating a culture of wellness that translates into better performance at work and stronger connections across the JKUAT community,” Dr. Waweru observed.
