JKUAT Management Board Trained on Personal Financial Management and Wealth Creation

The University Management Board has been trained on personal financial management and wealth creation in a programme aimed at enhancing financial literacy, investment planning and long-term financial security among the University’s senior leadership.

The training, conducted Monday, August 4, 2026, was facilitated by Jackson Gitimu, a Financial Advisor at Britam, and Sam Wainaina, Sales Manager at Old Mutual Investment Group, who equipped participants with practical knowledge on personal financial planning, disciplined saving, investment opportunities, retirement planning, insurance solutions and wealth preservation.

The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including unit trusts, money market funds, collective investment schemes, education savings plans, emergency funds, medical and property insurance, retirement income planning and investment diversification, providing members of the Management Board with practical strategies for making informed financial decisions.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi welcomed the training opportunity, describing financial literacy as an essential life skill that empowers leaders to make sound financial decisions and plan confidently for the future.

Prof. Ngumi further commended Britam and Old Mutual Investment Group for partnering with the University to deliver the training, noting that such collaborations complement JKUAT’s commitment to holistic staff development.

Jackson Gitimu urged participants to embrace disciplined saving and long-term investing, emphasizing that sustainable wealth is built through consistency, informed choices and proper financial planning.

Sam Wainaina encouraged members of the Management Board to diversify their investments and leverage professionally managed investment solutions that align with their financial goals and retirement aspirations.
