The University Management Board (UMB) of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) conducted an extensive tour of the Karen campus on December 16, 2024. The visit, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Ngumi and other senior university management members, focused on assessing ongoing projects, newly established facilities, and future development plans for the campus.
The management also took this opportunity to promote transparency and strengthen connections with students and faculty. By engaging directly with the campus community, they gathered valuable feedback that will inform future decisions and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall campus experience.
The day-long tour covered key areas, including the TVET, hospital, laboratories, library, hostels, cafeteria, and various administrative offices. This gave board members a chance to interact with both students and staff, fostering meaningful discussions.
Speaking during the tour, Prof. Ngumi emphasized the management’s commitment to improving campus infrastructure,

student welfare, and academic resources, particularly the library and laboratories.
“Our priority is to provide a conducive learning environment that fosters innovation and growth. We are dedicated to creating a space that encourages academic excellence and innovation. This tour enables us to evaluate our infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and engage directly with the campus community,” said Prof. Ngumi.
During the visit to the School of Law, the Vice Chancellor took a moment to recognize Ms. Maureen Ndanu, a third-year student who participated in the Supreme Court Moot competition during their 12th anniversary. Ms. Ndanu advanced to the quarterfinals and won the Best Respondent and Applicant Memorials award.

The Principal of Karen Campus, Prof. Hellen Mberia, welcomed the opportunity to discuss the academic needs and challenges of the campus with the board.
“This initiative ensures direct communication with the management, allowing our voices to be heard and our concerns to be addressed,” said Prof. Mberia.
The tour concluded with an interactive session in which the board answered questions and discussed the university’s long-term vision for enhancing not only the Karen Campus but also other satellite campuses. This transparent and collaborative approach was warmly received by the campus community.
The management board reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with students and campus leadership to make JKUAT a leading center of learning and innovation.
