Final Year Students Comply with Govt. Directive, Resume Classes

Final year students report back to campus

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s (JKUAT) final year students have reported back to the university to resume studies following the directive by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha to Vice Chancellors and Principals of Universities, to come up with reopening plans for final year students in their institutions by October 5, 2020.

JKUAT Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi expressed her confidence on the level of preparedness and the safety protocols put in place to ensure students have a safe and smooth transition into classroom learning.

“JKUAT being a science and technology University means that most of the courses are practical oriented and therefore we have taken extra measures to ensure that students who need to utilize our facilities such as labs, studios and those who want to conduct clinical practicals observe social distancing,” said Prof. Ngumi.

She added that the University has set up hand washing points around the campus, availed masks and sanitizers produced by the university to students.

Prof. Ngumi thanked JKUAT Council for playing a key advisory role during the planning and execution phases.
