Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and UK-based international healthcare company, MOBAY and Company, have entered into partnership discussions focused on advancing health training and capacity building.

The proposed partnership is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery systems through enhanced rehabilitative training programs, research collaboration and exchange of expertise.

Combining resources, knowledge and regional insights, the collaboration seeks to develop sustainable health training models that address both immediate and long-term needs in healthcare, particularly in rehabilitative services, which are becoming increasingly vital in comprehensive patient care.

According to the Chairman, MOBAY and Company, Mr. Keith Seville, the partnership will be a strategic step toward improving healthcare outcomes through education, training, and knowledge exchange.

He emphasized that building local capacity especially in rehabilitative and community health services is central to their vision of responsive, accessible care.

“Our company is keen on rehabilitative healthcare as a key area of focus. We also specialize in education, infrastructure and food security particularly in underserved communities across Africa, where inequalities remain a daily reality,” noted Mr. Seville.

Mr. Seville added that, while JKUAT already offers a range of rehabilitative programs, the partnership will help introduce new specialized areas, such as speech-language pathology, thus further expanding the university’s scope and impact.

The JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi, said, JKUAT is committed to internationalization, and the proposed partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening global collaboration in health education and training.

Prof. Ngumi also noted that the collaboration aligns with the university’s mission to provide high-quality, globally relevant training that cater to both local and international health needs.

“As JKUAT, we are honoured to attract major global players who are keen to collaborate with us in advancing healthcare education and training. This partnership represents a unique opportunity to leverage our strengths and contribute to addressing pressing health challenges both locally and internationally,” said the Vice Chancellor.

During the meeting, both institutions agreed to continue discussions to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a clear framework for cooperation and future engagement initiatives.
