Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU), United Kingdom, are strengthening their longstanding academic partnership with plans to broaden collaboration into Architecture and Building Sciences.
Expanding the existing partnership was the key focus during a courtesy call by Tee Dymond, Associate Director at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), to JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, on Friday, June 3, 2025. Prof. Dymond was accompanied by Hamzah Ikram, NTU’s Senior Global Partnership Manager.
JKUAT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, highlighted the school’s dynamic growth and strong industry reputation.
“Our graduates from this School are highly sought after in the market, and our student population continues to grow steadily. JKUAT remains one of the most preferred institutions by high school graduates, thanks to our emphasis on academic excellence, innovation, and industry relevance,” said Prof. Ngumi.
The prospective partnership builds upon an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions that has supported academic exchange and joint research over the years.
Tee Dymond praised JKUAT’s academic leadership and the reputation of its architectural programs.
“We were persuaded to come not only by the successful history of collaboration between our institutions, but also by the strong reputation your School of Architecture and Building Sciences holds across the region,” noted Ms. Dymond.
Key areas of discussion included joint research, student and staff exchange, curriculum co-development, and collaborative projects among other areas.
Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Robert Kinyua, said the partnership is timely, aligning seamlessly with the university’s strategic goal of promoting internationalization.
Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Production and Extension, Prof. Jackson Kwanza, commended both institutions for nurturing a robust and impactful collaboration.
Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Prof. Daniel Sila, echoed Prof. Kwanza’s sentiments, applauding the leadership of JKUAT and NTU. “Successful partnerships are anchored by visionary leaders,” he noted.
Prof. Sila further observed that the partnership is a key component of a broader framework that complements the school’s ambitions, particularly as its academic programmes have attained international accreditation.
Other speakers during the forum included the Director of JKUAT Nairobi CBD Campus, Prof. Peter Njenga, and the Dean, School of Architecture and Building Sciences, Prof. Titus Kivaa.
