As part of this commitment, Huawei continues to offer JKUAT students’ valuable opportunities, including participation in the prestigious annual Huawei ICT Competition, where they can showcase their talents across various ICT categories.
This was discussed during a courtesy call on Thursday, April 10, 2025, when the Huawei delegation, led by Huawei HR Director Mr. Allen Li Xiang, met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Ngumi.

“Huawei has been instrumental in driving innovation and fostering educational excellence at JKUAT by providing access to advanced technologies, training programs, and industry collaborations that benefit both students and staff,” stated Prof. Ngumi.

Prof. Ngumi further noted that the university has also received vital equipment from Huawei, which has greatly enhanced the learning environment and supported the development of students’ practical skills.
The Vice Chancellor added that the new ‘Seed for the Future’ project, a new initiative by Huawei, will play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of tech leaders and providing students with valuable global industry exposure.
Mr. Allen stated that the initiative, set to begin in May 2025, aims to provide students with hands-on experience and global exposure in the ICT industry, preparing them for future leadership roles.
“The project aims to offer students practical insights into the ICT industry, fostering innovation and leadership skills that will equip them to succeed in the global technology landscape,” stated Mr. Li.
The HR Director also lauded JKUAT for its commitment to excellence in training and its proactive approach in preparing students to tackle the challenges of the modern technology landscape.
