Speaking during the launching ceremony, October 11, 2022, the Director, School of Computing and Information Technology, Dr. Michael Kimwele, expressed his gratitude to Huawei for enhancing the University’s ICT capacity; lauding them for the instrumental roles they had played in the development of students in ICT especially through Huawei Datacom certification trainings.

“Huawei has been very committed to JKUAT partnership and we have seen the results emanating from the various collaborations,” said Dr. Kimwele.

He urged the students to take full advantage of the rare opportunity presented to them by Huawei to enhance their personal profiles and form meaningful networks with the industry players through the Club.

While pledging to avail the resources at his School to further grow the Club, Dr. Kimwele encouraged the students to take active lead roles in the Club to fully enjoy its benefits.

Huawei used the platform to sensitize students on ICT careers at their company and the requirements of the job market.

The Institution’s head of Talent Ecosystem, Mr. Michael Kamau urged students to complete all Datacom certification trainings to have a better chance of beating their competitors in the job market.

He encouraged the students to participate in Huawei Competitions to get more exposure and insights into the career while testing themselves against competitors drawn from across the continent.

“To promote the healthy development of the ICT talent ecosystem and support the integration of industry and education, Huawei invites Huawei ICT Academy and Universities with relevant majors to participate in the Huawei ICT Competitions,” said Mr. Kamau.
