Inaugural University Industrial Liaison Officer

The status of JKUAT – Industry initiative has received new impetus following the Vice Chancellor’s decision to appoint a full time Industrial Liaison officer to among other functions steer the promotion of technology transfer and commercialization of the University inventions while at the same time maintaining a channel through which companies, research organizations and government could readily access knowledge generated by JKUAT researchers for the country’s economic development.

Engineer Benson Kariuki, a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and former manager of the University’s Engineering Workshops becomes JKUAT’s inaugural Industrial Officer for two years with effect from August 5, 2010. Kariuki, a registered Engineer and Corporate member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya, is also a trainer in ISO 9000 Quality Management System.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mabel Imbuga, told Engineer Kariuki to ensure the goals of his new office that she said included working with internal groups to enhance and cement university/industry relationship were achieved.
