Former leaders of the JKUAT Students Association (JKUSA) have opened formal discussions with the university’s top management to establish a structured alumni association built on their legacy of student leadership. The engagement seeks to renew a push to institutionalize alumni involvement and create a coordinated system that supports students, enhances mentorship, and strengthens the university’s long-term development agenda.

Speaking during the forum November 19, 2025, Vice Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi welcomed the initiative and commended the team for presenting a clear framework and defined objectives.

She noted that a well-organized alumni body would deepen student support systems and elevate the university’s visibility through active alumni engagement.

The alumni delegation, led by Odada Orinda, outlined their leadership structure, mission, vision, and key strategic pillars covering infrastructure support, academic collaboration, community engagement, partnerships, and career development.

The team also highlighted progress achieved through earlier engagements, including alumni dinners and consultations with potential internal and external partners.

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Robert Kinyua, emphasized that engaged alumni contribute significantly to mentorship, curriculum enrichment, and enhancing academic credibility.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance, Prof. Bernard Ikua highlighted that a fully functional alumni association would strongly support the university’s performance contract indicators, especially in areas of governance, partnerships, and resource mobilization.

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Production and Extension, Prof. Jackson Kwanza observed that alumni are key in opening research avenues and industry networks that benefit both students and faculty.

Prof. Vivienne Matiru, Director of ALISO, reaffirmed the directorate’s full support and pledged to guide the alumni leadership team through all administrative and legal procedures leading to formal recognition.

She urged the alumni leaders to remain inclusive, consistent, and strategic as they work to mobilize the broader graduate community.
