First National HIV and AIDS Conference set for May 2011

The National AIDS Control Council (NACC) through the Kenya HIV and AIDS Research Coordination Mechanism (KARSCOM) is set to host an inaugural conference aimed at deepening the gains made against the HIV/Aids scourge.

The three-day National HIV and AIDS Biennial Research Conference is set for May 18—20, 2011 will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre. It will mark a turning point in the implementation of the Kenya National HIV and AIDS Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Framework and is meant to provide part of the evidence that will drive implementation of the Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan 2009/10 to 2012/13 (KNASP III).

The theme of the conference that will feature abstract and exhibition driven sessions aligned to sub-themes that are derived from KNASP III, is “HIV Programming Beyond Universal Access”. Plenary sessions will be held between break-away sessions and at the end to facilitate discussion on major themes and chart the way forward.
