First Africa Visualization Conference Set for August

The first Africa-wide visualization conference is set to be staged at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology on August 20-21, 2018. The event under the theme of ‘Advancing Multi-Disciplinary Data, Information and Scientific Visualization for Strategic and Sustainable Development’, will bring together researchers, policy makers, data professionals, innovators and industry players do deliberate on the visualization trends and its use for sustainable development.

Dubbed VizAfrica 2018, the conference will feature key presentations on ongoing research, current industry trends on use of data, keynote speeches as well as panel discussions on thematic issues.

The event has been organized under the auspices of the AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Project through the Innovative Open Data and Visualization (iODaV) sub-taskforce.

iODaV Chairperson, Prof. Muliaro Wafula said the event is primed to improve understanding of our challenges and their respective solutions with the help of data, information and scientific visualization. The conference running sessions will cover key area such as: universal healthcare, manufacturing, computer graphics, animation, food security and strategic management, logistics and supply chain management.
