
Dr. John Kagira has been re-elected unopposed as the Dean of the School of Natural Resources and Animal Sciences (SoNRAS), securing another two-year term following the dean elections held on Thursday, 24th July 2025.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Kagira expressed heartfelt gratitude to his colleagues for their support over the past term and for renewing their confidence in his leadership.
“I am truly honored to continue leading SoNRAS. Your support has been the foundation of our success, and I am committed to steering this school toward even greater heights,” he said.
Dr. Kagira outlined his vision for the coming term, emphasizing continuity and strategic innovation. Among the key initiatives he plans to implement are the introduction of a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Health and Management and the rollout of short-term certificate courses tailored to equip students with practical, market-relevant skills.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive and responsive leadership, pledging to maintain an open-door policy to ensure that staff and student concerns are addressed in a timely and constructive manner. Additionally, he highlighted the recent adoption of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which Dr. Kagira emphasized would significantly enhance administrative efficiency.
Dr. Kagira further underscored his commitment to strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders, development agencies, and international institutions to advance collaborative research and academic excellence.
“Let’s move forward with unity of purpose and make SoNRAS the best school and place to be. I am committed to working with each one of you to turn these goals into reality,” he added.
