Production Department belongs to the Research, Production and Extension (RPE) Division. This Division is headed by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof  Jackson Kwanza . The Production Department is responsible for coordination and management of technology innovation projects, development and up scaling of innovation, coordination and evaluation of income-generating activities within the University. To achieve these objectives the Production Department provides secretariat for two key University Senate Committees namely: Innovation and Production Committee (IPC) and Income Generating Units Committee.

1. Coordination of the operations of the income-generating Units (IGUs) within the University.
2. Coordination and management of the development and up scaling of Technology innovations.
3. Monitoring and evaluation of innovation projects including the Manufacturing Research Chair Project.
4. Promotion and dissemination of the University innovation outputs through various dissemination channels conferences, shows and exhibitions
5. In collaboration with DIPUIL, Support Project Innovators in engaging partners from the public and private sectors in up scaling of innovation outputs towards incubation and potential commercialization
