Introduction to the Card Centre
The Card Centre deals with the issuance of Identification Cards to students as well as members of staff. It is Located in the Left Wing of IEET Building, 2nd Floor at Main Campus. It is managed by the Department of Information Systems of the ICT Directorate.

The cards are used for general identification for the members of JKUAT as well as to grant them access to secured areas including JKUAT Hospital and the University Library. It is also a requirement for services including payment of fees, access to hospital and library services among other services provided by the University.

Issuance of ID cards
New Members of Staff are issued their Staff ID Card upon request form the Human Resource Manager’s office for the concerned staff member. The staff member requesting the ID is then required to visit the Card Centre personally for photography and collection of the processed ID cards.

New students collect their ID Cards from the Card Centre 7 days after photographing as guided during the registration process.

All members of staff as well as students collecting their ID Cards must go and collect them personally as their cards will not be handed out to anyone else.

Replacing Staff ID Cards (For Lost, Damaged, Broken or Defaced ID Card)
Staff members who under the said circumstances need their staff ID replaced shall be required to get a clearance from the Human Resource Manager’s office from where they will also issued with a staff ID printing request form  that they shall present at the Card Centre and shall have their staff ID card printed and subsequently collect  with the full package comprising : The ID, a pouch and a strap (for the purpose of displaying the ID).

Upon collection of their ID, a staff member is required to sign for collection at a space provided for in the Staff ID request form that the acknowledge collecting of their ID Card.

Replacing Student ID Cards (For Lost, Damaged, Broken, Defaced or Invalid ID Cards due to Change of Course or Inter-Campus Transfer)

Students who under the specified  circumstances need their student ID card replaced shall be required to fulfill the following:

For cases of lost ID:

  1. Go to your Respective Course Department Office and ask them to write a letter indicating that you are their bonafide student indicating your Coursename.
  2. Print the Police Abstract from the Kenya Police website and take it to Juja Police Station for them to fill it acclaiming loss of Student ID Card.
  3. Go to Cash Office at Admin Block A with your department letter to pay Kshs 700 and you will be given a payment receipt with your student details.
  4. Make a copy of the Police Abstract and ID replacement fee receipt.
  5. Visit the Card Centre in person with these copies and the originals of the Police Abstract and the replacement fee receipt and have the ID card printed instantly. (The copies of the Police Abstract and the replacement fee receipt shall be retained for record keeping at the Card Centre).

For cases of broken, damaged or defaced ID:

  1. Go to Cash Office Admin block A with your Department letter to Pay replacement fee of Kshs. 700 and obtain an ID replacement fee receipt.
  2. Make a copy of the replacement fee receipt.
  3. Visit the Card Centre in person with the copy and the original of the replacement fee receipt and the broken, damaged or defaced ID and have your ID card printed instantly. (The copy and the broken, damaged or defaced ID shall be retained for record keeping at the Card Centre).

For cases of change of course or inter-campus transfer:

  1. Go to Cash Office Admin Block A with your Change of Course or Inter-Campus letter to Pay replacement fee of Kshs. 700 and obtain an ID replacement fee receipt.
  2. Make a copy of the replacement fee receipt and the approval letter from the Registrar, Academic Affairs’ office granting the request to change course or campus as may be the case.
  3. Visit the Card Centre in person with the copies of the replacement fee receipt and your approval letter from the Registrar Academic Affairs’ office granting your request to change course or campus and the ID card for the previous course or campus as may be the case. (The copies and the ID card for your previous course or campus as may be the case shall be retained for record keeping at the Card Centre).
