COURTESY CALL BY THE TECHNOLOGY AND LICENSING OFFICER FROM UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

Technology and Licensing officer from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Kenneth Karanja has on 15th July, 2022 paid a courtesy call to the Directorate of Intellectual Property Management and University-Industry Liaison, at IPIC building.

The discussions focused on various issues of Intellectual Property, licensing of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and success stories from University of Minnesota arising from the utilization of intellectual property. Dr. Karanja noted the efforts that DIPUIL has put towards Intellectual property management and university-industry liaison within the African continent.

Further, keen interest was placed on IP identification, protection and commercializing university generated IP. Equally, Dr. Karanja shared his experiences on provision of strategic consultation on patent and commercialization strategies that enabled founding of startup companies. A consensus was built on fostering for future partnership, training and consultation on utilization of IP.
