DIPUIL has sensitized a total of 112 2nd year students of computer technology and computer science on the importance of IP regimes, access to patent information, how to file a patent application as part of the capacity building program of the Directorate. Speaking during the Intellectual Property Awareness Seminar held at IPIC on 24th September 2019, the Director of DIPUIL, Eng. B.K. Kariuki challenged the students to be innovative in their daily life and come up with inventive computer-operated systems that can solve problems affecting Africa.
The students were encouraged to utilize the available free patent information databases such as Patentscope, Espacenet, USPTO, Free Patent Online (FPO), Google Patent, etc. for their projects. Also present were Fred Otswong’o and Simon N. Njuguna of DIPUIL and Dr. Rimiru R. M, CoD, Ms. Margaret Ngugi and Ms. Damaris Waema of Computing Department.
