Background Information

We are pleased to inform you that JKUAT has been fully accredited as a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). The Authority, established under the TVET Act No. 29 of 2013, regulates and coordinates technical and vocational training in the country through licensing, registration, and accreditation of programs, institutions, and trainers. This accreditation was granted after satisfactorily fulfilling all the requirements outlined in the TVET Act of 2013.

The TVET Institute based at the JKUAT Karen Campus offers a serene and conducive learning environment supported by modern facilities and resources that empower students throughout their academic journey. The Institute is governed by a board comprising renowned and diverse professionals with extensive experience in leadership and oversight roles.

At the helm of the JKUAT TVET Institute is the capable Director, Dr. Fridah Simba, who also serves as Secretary to the Institute’s Board. She possesses wide-ranging management experience, having served as the founding Deputy Director (2011–2016) and former Director (2016–2022) of the JKUAT Mombasa Campus. Under her leadership, the Mombasa Campus won several awards and attained global recognition.
